Photo 28 of 28: Friday

We've reached the end of February. To all of you who have provided feedback and encouragement, thank you, it was appreciated. I'm already thinking up some new challenges for myself. Maybe Wing or others will come along on the next ride.

Here are our final photos.

Beth: In honor of a wonderfully rainy day. I took this in the morning, unsure how long the rain might last. It's now evening and I'm enjoying the rare sound of the pouring rain and hoping the it will last as long as the weather report predicts. California needs the rain and I need the sound of the rain.

Beth: I had a few shots I liked today, all taken while walking around lower campus for meetings, all taken on my iPhone. But I picked this one because it made me feel joyful. There was a pretty decent breeze, the flags were going crazy, they were making lots of noise. And they are so wonderfully bright.

Wing: When I see a photo like this one of Wing's it reminds me of how different things look from the inside.

Inside Peace Pagoda

Beth: I've been wanting to take a shot like this one for a while, but never found myself in the right place at the right time with my camera stuff. Tonight, after a not so successful jaunt in the park, I was on my way home and just as I drove through the 9th and Irving intersection I saw a parking spot. I pulled in, got my stuff and set up just in time for a series of trollies making their way east and west. My ghost train.

Wing: Wonderful composition.

Beth: I don't know about Wing, but it seems much harder to get good photos as the month progresses. February might not have been the best month to choose, either, given it still gets dark so early. Work till 5:30 and then rush to try and find a good early evening photo. Nonetheless, it's a good challenge so far. Finding subjects. Composing shots. Reviewing the results and having to pick just one for Bellhops. All worth while. This wasn't my top pic for today, but I showed my final choices to Mr. H and he liked this one - thought it was the most interesting. I decided to trust his viewpoint.

Taking a Break

Wing: Wing is on a roll with her pictures. I love this guy. He's all, like, "Yup, I've got a number twenty-six around my neck, but that's only because these guys that look after me can't read. My name's Doug. I like grass. The greener the better, though hay will do in a pinch. And if you sneak some of those Girl Scout Do-si-dos through the fence here, I'll be your best goat. I know you have them! I smell them in your pocket! Pony up, girlie, pony up!"

A whole lot of peace to go with your love.

Beth: I'm trying to make up for the last photo. I was trying to bring down the light of the church but wasn't successful. The fog, though, looks so cool. It was fun playing taking the photos tonight,

Beth: Caveat 1 - I'm embarrassed to put this photo up because you'll think it's a cop out, but if you saw my other photo then you'd really know a cop out. Caveat 2 - I always planned on including a food shot somewhere in my 28 days. The colors are so pretty. In case you were wondering, it was as tasty as it looks!

La Rose

Wing: Wing let me choose her photo today. She gave me three to choose from and I immediately went with this one, though all three were great shots. I love photos like this. Angular, hard, a bit dark. I think it is composed beautifully

Ferry Building in Twilight

Beth: Today I had an idea of what I wanted to shoot and it came out almost exactly like I imagined. The toy is one of my Coarse toys - Paws. I was influenced by the toy's sinister promo pics. At first I thought I'd get the effect I wanted with candlelight, but as I was prepping I had to use my iPhone's camera light to help (after all, I had all the lights out). I realized the light was better and easier to control. It was fun playing with the light and trying to figure out where it needed to be to get the shadows I wanted. I ended up with a few pics I really liked, but this one was my favorite and pretty much just what I had been going for.

Photo 7 of 28: Friday

Beth: I had this idea of taking pictures while I was at my friend's beading this evening, but then I got distracted with beading and talking and the next thing I knew it was late and my necklace was done. So I decided I'd try and get some jewlery shots. Not quite what I was imagining in the end.

Wing said there was too much terror in yesterday's pics. I like her alternative to terror... a dancing lava lamp. Lovely and happy.

Photo 5 of 28: Wednesday

I was driving home from the dentist - numb mouth but, thankfully, no drooling - wondering, "what should I do about my daily photo?" when I noticed out of the corner of my eye a couple of silver telescope viewfinders standing on the Ocean Beach promenade. "That's it!" I thought. I made a hasty u-turn, parked and took a bunch of photos, messing with exposure and angles and what not. This is the one I decided was my favorite, though I was happy with quite a few.

Clearing My Vision

Wing found this guy loitering in front of the SF Asian Art Museum. He's rather forbidding.

Wing: she came upon this dog and couldn't resist. 11 years old, stylishly dressed, serious attitude, perfectly captured.

The Dog Days are Here Now

Beth: there is only one of these sculptures in the little park at Octavia and Hayes, but I'd love to see a forest full of them, lit like this one, in varying sizes. I think it would be magical. (I need to leave my tripod in the trunk already!)
