Chicken Haven

While up in SR visiting my grandmother with the Abs, we stopped at this place in Sebastopol out on Bodega Highway called the Rose & Thorn - like a nursery/gift shop. The also sold fresh eggs. And not just any fresh eggs, but ones from free roaming chickens. They were just wandering all of the place, messing with the dirt, drinking water out of random bird baths, slipping under my legs, through the shrubbery and what not. There were a few roosters, of course, and they were quite vocal. I do have to admit we even so this super fluffy little black rooster try to get some action with this larger white and grey spotted chicken. But I can tell you, she wasn't having any of it.

Really, they were just the cutest, with their silly faces and fluffy bloomers! All sorts of ones, too! I was very excited and they kept me smiling for hours.

Did I mention they had goats, too? A veritable pleathora of animules....

Almost Ready

According to our construction team this network closet will be ready by next Tuesday. I'll reserve judgement and give them the benefit of the doubt. More miraculous things have happened. I feel for my PM.

CORRECTION: This just in from my PM... I mis-remembered the due date for this particular closet... has to be ready BEFORE 8/8/08, but not necessarily this week. For the sake of arguement, let's say it has to be ready by Monday, so the required equipment can be installed and ready for use by 8/8/08. So, it may be less of a miracle and more of a need for some focused attenion (though, in construction lingo, that could very well mean a miracle).

Dinner Yumminess

Had a nice dinner out with Walker. We went to Paul K, which is located on Gough @ Oak. It was my first time and I enjoyed it.

I had a tasty grilled sardine appetizer with a really tasty Guvirtz (figure it out). I can hardly complain about sardines. Yum. Dinner was a nicely spiced sumac chicken dish. My only complaint was the meat was a bit too fatty for my taste (I confess I'm a boneless, skinless breast woman). But it was overall fine and the greens and fingerling potatoes we perfect. Had a nice Zin alongside that. Dessert was a mint pot de creme. Yum.

Walker had a salad and pan fried char - next time that will be my choice. Way tasty. Great minds think alike on the dessert front.

Of course the company and conversation was the winner for the night. Can't beat being with friends no matter the cuisine.

This just in...

Oh God the cuteness... Balance this, baby!

To Wii or not to Wii

My super kick ass Slacker Bro gave me treats tonight - a Wii remote charging station and a new game - Boom Blox. I must charge and play!

Spur of the moment decision to drive down to Cupertino tonight to join SP, G and the Bro for dinner. Was well worth the drive to spend time with them. Needless to say it beat being at home alone for the evening. This week will be a social one even if I'm tempted to crawl in a dark hole.

Birthday Fun and Fluffiness

Saturday night a big group of us crazies celebrated John's birthday. I've lost track of just how old he is, but trust me when I say he's over the hill. But that didn't stop him from acting like a frat boy, what with beer and chics and super pink fluffiness.

And since there was pink fluffiness, I figured it was only fair to add some grey fluffiness, too.

Other than the fluffiness and debauchery of the weekend, I've spent the last few days at home sick. While I can't say I really want to go back to work, I suppose I don't have much choice... plus, I'm kinda bored.

Coffee at the beach

SP and I are chillin out at Java Beach having JUMBO lattes and treats. We stayed up late - even went to the Krispy Kreme at, like, 11:30. Then we just drove around. I was reminded of my early driving days when we would just cruise aimlessly. In fact, I think last night I may have regressed to about 17. Where is a White Castle when you need one?

A Chill 4th

I had a pretty nice and chill 4th of July this year. While the usual suspects were enjoying the great outdoors up at Lake Siskiyou, I stayed in the city just in case anything happened during our data/voice cutover. Nothing happened - went smooth as can be, I'm relieved to say (good job, team!), and I didn't have to put my feet on campus once over the weekend (at least as of now).

And for your viewing pleasure, John at the Lake Siskiyou camp ground in 2005 -- just a taste of what I missed out on this year...

Suie sure has a charmer in that John... :-)

On the 4th, Mojo, K and I went to the Park Chalet for a mid-afternoon meal with fun conversation and cocktails. I hadn't seen K in a long time and the three of us had some fun chats -- like, what would you be willing to change if you were in a relationship? Yikes. I won't go there again and the replies are safe with me, for now. We then went to see Hancock, which was fun, until the end, which was a bit too much. We ended the day at K's loft in the C of O. Mark Z came over and the 4 of us went to Jack London Square to watch the fireworks -- sweet -- and then spent the next 3.5 hours playing word games. That was actually a lot of fun. Mark Z has the vocab down -- seriously.

Today I spent with the Slacker just chillin before heading over to G's place for dinner.

All in all, a nice weekend so far.

Oh, and I was introduced to The Wire by the Slacker and now want to watch the whole first season back to back. Sigh. The tiny obsessive bit of nature rearing its ugly head.
