The Lodger

I have a temporary lodger living with me right now. He's such a doll. He is very well groomed, likes to wear a tuxedo, is black as sin and has heavenly amber eyes. He plays hard and likes to hang out in bed with me. To be truthful, I think he might be breaking my heart...

Such a sultry look... He's a heart breaker.
You can't hear it, but he's purring up a storm.
He plays hard...
I know you wanna pet me... Go ahead, do it...

He goes by the handle of Pawz and he needs a permanent home. Anyone have space for a cutie like this?

Oh, Those Dahlias

Checked out the dahlia exhibit in GG Park today. Got some amazing photos of them.

Totally reminds me of a Phyllis Diller hat.

Something's Fishy

A few weekends ago I went to my cousin's place for dinner and she made delicious pan-fried trout. I told her I had never cooked a whole fish before so, after dinner, she made a point to show me a YouTube video with Melissa Clark from the New York Times (link below). I've seen my friend Lisette cook big pieces of salmon on our weekend Sea Ranch getaways, but I always let her do it. Not anymore. The secret's out. It's easy to cook a whole fish.

My fish choice: Golden Trout. What can I say, it's a blonde fish with pink flesh. If I were a fish, I might very well be a Golden Trout.

Yup, that's everything.
Ready for the oven.
Ready for the plate.
All the pink flesh!
Ready for my belleh!

I now have a fish-cooking bug. What fish will be up next?

Melissa Clark takes away the whole fish fear!

I Made Bread: Yup, I Really Did

Here is a story on my recent bread making attempts. I planned to blog it, but Storehouse just makes it too easy to do really nice story layouts. So, click through and give it a read.

P.S. I just made my third loaf today (it's not the one pictured above - that one's #2). I didn't let the second rise go as long as previously, plus the dough went on a road trip with me to S&L's place, where I'm spending the night. The bread seems much poofier. Haven't tried it yet but I'll have some for breakfast and we'll see how I did.

The Horrible Cuteness

Some posts require minimal text. This is one such post.
Nope, nothin' over here. Keep movin' along. (Pawz)
Did you say something? (Rust)
Yup, I'm cute. So what? (Axel)
WTF was that? (Rust and Odin)
Butt smack! No fair! (Rust and Pawz)
What? Sneaking up on you? Heaven's no, I'd never do such a thing. (Odin)
What's this? It's my pet mouse. We're cuddling. (Pawz)
Fern, your ass is grass! (Odin)
Gettin' a good look, lady? (Brain, aka Little Momma, Axel and Odin)
Hold up! I'm checkin' somethin' out. (Pawz)
If you need a kitten, these cuties need a home.

Petersen's Rock Garden

I haven't had a chance to blog anything about my drive up to Spokane and back to SF via Portland, but I did take some time the other day to post some pics and a bit about this random stop I made just outside of Bend, OR, at Petersen's Rock Garden. I posted it on Storehouse. I hope you'll take a minute and follow the link below to check it out.

Garden structure detail.

Floral Conversion

If I were transformed from my current human form into flower form, I'd look like this: big, fluffy and pink.

Yup, super fluffy (Filoli rose garden).

And I'd smell nice, too.
